Fashion Directions and Trends

February sees the arrival of the early Autumn/Winter collections with the fashion trend setters on high alert. Some of our style leaders share their directions for Winter 2010.

Adrienne & The Misses Bonney
Clothes that travel with you. This season the fashion focus from Mela Purdie?is a new mix of street luxe. Metal accents move from day to night with edgy elegance. Traditional lace takes a modern turn for winter with unexpected shapes and details.

Cutting edge cool is defined by asymmetrical looks, high tech fabrics and plenty of attitude. Coveted classics give you fashion that goes the distance with decadent ease.

The new collection is in store now. Join Adrienne & The Misses Bonney?for a special VIP preview the new look of Mela Purdie modern glamour?on Thursday 25th February 2010 details in store now.

Anna Kat
Once again Anna Kat have put together a collection for winter that is heavily European in its influences and inspires a new edge to the way you dress. The season ahead sees a casual approach to winter dressing with lighter layers and relaxed yet detailed knitted vests, jackets and coats.

The slim line pant is a must, worn together with tunics and dresses. Feminine yet fashion forward at the same time. This edgier aesthetic transcends age and body shape. It combines stand out pieces with staple basics that anyone can mix and match with their existing wardrobe to create a fashionable look for any event.
The Anna Kat collection is sourced direct from Italy and France together with essential signature ranges from Verge, Rosie+Dixie, Marco Polo, Elisa Cavaletti (Italy) and Marilyn Seyb.

Clientelle
New season winter highlights at Clientelle will feature tunics in tone on tone floral prints in shades of grey, purple and magenta in lightweight tissue wool – perfect for layering.

Our eclectic and innovative ranges will showcase fabulous textures featuring graffiti style prints and metallic greys.

Some of the key pieces will have an edgy European influence complimented with intriguing zippers and button detailing.

Also in store is a directional look in military jackets and coats accessorised by narrow slim line pants. Clientelle features signature designers such as Trelise Cooper, Boo Radley, Catalyst, David Pond and Rant.

Fella Hamilton
In a world that’s gone mad for cheap and impersonal imports, Fella Hamilton remains true to its values as a 40 year old Australian family owned and managed company – catering for the style, size, fit and quality needs of fashion-conscious, mature ladies.
The 2010 Autumn collection typifies the Fella Hamilton look: great style, quality fabrics, figure-flattering designs, wonderful fit, great value. In addition, when you buy our made in Australia products you can feel good about supporting our manufacturing community here at home.

- A bouquet of winter florals in soft silks and flowing fabrics with the return of feminine frills, bows and ruffles.
- Textured knits and boucles in easy wearable silhouettes.
- Blanket plaids, tweeds, cashmere and herringbones teamed with the contrast of soft florals and sheers.
- Decorative, textured and embellished evening wear in burnished metallics and a rich array of opulent colours.

Silva Guanta
Winter 2010 is all about jackets. A favourite look is inspired by classic Coco Chanel.

Textured, very lightweight wool crepes in beautiful offbeat colors also play a strong role in this coming season.

We have also used many transeasonal fabrics such as memory fabric, while natural materials have always played an important element here at Silva Guanta.

Our collections are made up of coordinated separates
that enable women the freedom to create their own look and style.

At Silva Guanta we are passionate about creating clothes for women who appreciate excellent design, great fit and top quality. There is no rule, choose what appeals to you!

Sportscraft
For Autumn/Winter 2010, Sportscraft continues to be leader of the must have classics. For women the trench coat and white shirt are wardrobe essentials. This season also sees an injection of feminine pieces, bold colours, a new denim range and an added edge with leather jackets. Don’t forget accessories to add finishing touches and make a statement this winter.

Sportscraft’s simplistic, modern, yet classic approach to the menswear collection has created a masculine range which is easy to wardrobe and layer. Strong colours will brighten up your winter wardrobe and are best worn with winter neutrals, denim, navy, black, silver and charcoal. You’ll find all the winter essentials in store – the denim jean, classic and colourful knitwear, great shirting in checks and stripes and a range of winter coats and jackets.

Rodney Clark
The style of the Rodney Clark woman is eclectic yet stylish. She looks for fashion pieces that are versatile, fit well, are of a high quality and will last more than one season. She is comfortable in classic palettes of Navy and White and Red and Charcoal but is not afraid to wear more sophisticated tones of Ivory, Mocha, Taupe and Soft Grey. She dresses neat and smart through the week and more relaxed on the?weekend, always with a casual feel.

We start the winter season at Rodney Clark with some casual groups in a fresh palette of blues, from navy to sky blue in a range of lightweight and weather appropriate fabrics. The? introduction of new labels into our store include the Hammock & Vine Collection which embodies a free spirited charm and style with a look that is eclectic and unique. The staff at St Ives look forward to showing you this exciting new season range.

Style Setters

Get the basics right and everything else will fall into place.
We asked several retailers to provide us with a ‘statement outfit’, something that says who they are, and defines their fashion philosophy. Interestingly, they all provided us with outfits that fit the basic requirements of good fashion. Colour, contrast, balance and shape were all taken into account along with fabric selection, age and wearability.

Each one of these outfits captures the personality of the wearer, and signals an innate fashion sense that is classic and understated. The simplicity of these outfits allows them to be easily accessorised and tweaked into a very different look. For example, take the classic jacket from Andre John, team it with a long white shirt, add a pair of skinny leg jeans and some heals and now you have a ‘Vintage’ look. Throw on rows of pearls and a couple of bangles and cuffs and now the look is an eclectic mix of fashion and funk. Rodney Clark provided us with a beautiful two piece in silver grey. We show it here with pink accessories, but it also lends itself to a classy tone on tone look using textured silver beads and a small silver bag.

Shoes are also a wonderful way of introducing a bit of colour or texture, and there are some wonderful shoes around at the moment. We teamed the outfit from Silva Guanta with a pair of black sling backs with a silver wedge and topped it off with an exaggerated hat. A great look for the races!
RM Williams provided us with the look that brings the country to the city, or the suburbs in our case, and here we have a timeless look swathed in the luxury of the finest fabrics.

Superswell have the ‘teen’ and ‘tween’ look all sewn up with figure hugging dresses - not for the faint-hearted - and those fabulous black boots for only the hottest of hot looks this season.
Anna Kat’s outfit redefines ‘classic black and white’ and lends itself to any occasion where today’s fashionista is proud to be seen. This outfit has comfort and style written all over it. In black and white, you might say!

The three pieces from Yili’s know no bounds when it comes to time. This outfit can start the day with you in a pair of flat ballet slippers, and then take you through to the evening in a dazzling pair of statement heels. Throw in a little bit of colour in the shoes, the bag or the jewellery and you will have everyone’s attention.

Clientelle offer us a look that conveys elegance and confidence. Each individual piece can stand alone, or metamorphosize into several different configurations. Example, wear the coat over a cocktail dress, or team it with a pair of leggings and a waist cinching belt. Or wear the skirt with a gypsy top and the season’s latest lace-up boots for a more bohemian look. Add texture and detail with a bag and the possibilities are endless.

An important thing to remember is that you should wear the clothes, not the other way around. Clothes are seen as an extension of who you are, and how you are feeling at the time. People should notice you first, not your outfit. Dress for your mood, and you will never feel out of place.
