During April we asked customers and readers of Village Life to nominate someone they knew to be one of our Style
Ambassadors – we were looking for 6 stylish representatives of our area to be a part of our 50 year celebrations in 2010-11.
For this style shot we worked with each of our Style Ambassadors to enhance their style. Hair and makeup by our stylist – Una Campbell-Watt. Una says; “As the saying goes, “You’ve either got or you haven’t got style.” It was my privilege to escort our 6 Style Ambassadors around the Village to dress them for our fashion shoot. With all stores being between seasons and in full Sale mode, we found outfits to suit everyone. As you will see, STYLE IS AGELESS, and each of our ambassadors chose outfits that suited their personality, their bodies, and their lifestyle.”
So, what is STYLE? Maybe it’s not so much what you wear, but how you wear it. Each of these ambassadors has a different style, but they all show confidence in what they wear and each and every one of them has a very definite sparkle in their eye. Now, that’s style.
Introducing Our Ambassadors
Sarah, Lauren, Megan, Christine, Christine and Helene...

________________________________________________________
Sarah Heward-Belle, Age 10
Sarah was nominated by her Mother and Grandmother because of her endless spirit and constant fun with fashion. Sarah has a killer smile and amazing strawberry blonde hair. Her love of fashion enables her to find just the right outfits that suit her petite body and her fair colouring. She too, knows instantly what does and doesn’t look good on her, and chose this great outfit because of its vibrant green colour and versatility.
Sarah wears: Hooded top, skirt and headband by ‘Metalicus’ from Max & Millie, and cream scarf from Witchery.
We asked Sarah how she would like to be seen as an ambassador and she said “I would like to be seen as myself.” Sarah was selected not only for her natural love of style but also because she leads a happy sporty life and entertains her friends with designs and dress ups of her own just for them (and her dog!)

Lauren White, Age 12
Lauren nominated herself – because she thought it would be a great experience.
Lauren has it all. There is not much that Lauren can’t wear and that glowing head of hair will always be one of her greatest assets. At the moment her focus is on school and sport but she does love fashion. She has a great sense of what looks good on her, and knows how to balance out the complete look.
Lauren wears: ‘Living Doll’ military jacket, red top and grey jeans all from Double Bay Clothing. Her boots are from Superswell and the gorgeous lady bird pendant is from Tuscany Jewellers.
We asked Lauren what she would like to do as an ambassador and she said “Maybe we could do a fashion show for charity.” It was Lauren's sense of the world around her and her extremely energetic lifestyle that influenced her selection as an ambassador. The judges couldn’t believe the amount of activities she is able to fit into a week (thanks to Mum for the transport!).

Megan Hutchins, Age 40's
Megan was nominated by her friend Judy because of her tireless energy, inner beauty and commitment to Breast Cancer survivors.
Megan combines being a mother to two little boys with working part time. She has to look good for work and likes to be comfortable and casual around her family. Megan also considers her height to be her best feature as it means that she can wear almost anything. Shopping with Megan was a joy, as we found so many things that looked great on her. With so many easy to wear fabrics available today, we combined great looks with great comfort. Megan wears: ‘Catalyst’ Prince of Wales Check skirt, ‘cylk’ pale silver blue top and grey/blue knit cardigan. ‘Banana Blue’ long knit hooded jacket – all from Clientelle.
Black and Silver heart necklace from R G Collection and black ‘Van Eli’ court shoes from Eunice Jackson.
As a busy working mother we asked Megan what she had enjoyed so far in the selection of Ambassadors and she immediately said “the pampering and having time to herself to relax and enjoy the gift of $1,000 to spend on clothes – not bills!” We selected Megan because she obviously is unaware of her own beauty and cares more for others than herself. In fact when asked what more she would like to do as an ambassador she said "to give something back to a charity."

Christine Shute, Age 60's
Christine was nominated by her friend Penny because Christine “is very much a leader and has a great style” and as a St Ives resident for over 30 years Christine is well known in the area.
Christine exudes style and considers her height and slim legs to be her greatest assets. She has been in education for many years including local schools, St Ives High, Brigidine and PLC. Her fashion philosophy is keep it classical and simple with an added edge each season. She likes to set an example for the girls at school.
Christine wears: ‘Trelise Cooper’ Coat from Clientelle. Black skinny legged pants by Mela Purdie from Adrienne & The Misses Bonney. ‘Anne Klau’ black shoe boots from Eunice Jackson and 9ct yellow gold half hoop clip on earrings from St Ives Jewellers.
As a regular shopper at The Village, Christine feels that as an ambassador she will be “able to give back to the shop owners who have given her such pleasure over the years.” We selected Christine because of her natural and impeccable approach to style and her experience as a teacher and educator. Much of her teaching time was spent at local schools thus influencing many a young local.

Christine Anello, Age 60's
Christine nominated herself - which is exactly what you’d expect of her once you get to know her! Full of life and amazing self confidence, Christine was exactly what we anticipated when we began our search to find Style Ambassadors.
Christine glows with Joi de vivre and has a great sense of herself. She has a sparkle in her eye and loves getting dressed up for the occasion. She also likes classical styles, but not too stitched up. Nothing fussy – no frills, flowers or pleats for her. Christine opted to go for an after five look and when she tried on this outfit from Springfields she immediately knew that she had found what she was looking for. Christine wears: 3 piece ‘Laura K’ electric blue chiffon top, pant, and jacket ensemble from Springfields and teams it with her own silver and boulder opal necklace and earrings. When asked why she nominated herself Christine said that “she loves St Ives and she loves challenges” and saw “the competition as a challenge”. Christine has also lived in the area for as long as the centre has been here and felt particularly connected to it. Through being an Ambassador, Christine hopes to extend the value of what a village really means. We selected Christine because she has a wonderful spirit and every time we met her she was vivacious, colorful and engaging making everyone around her feel as if she had been their friend for such a long time!

Helene Greenblo, Ageless
Helen was nominated by her daughter Dianne who describes her mother as “card playing (bridge), car driving, spirited, funny, witty, upbeat and above all elegant – an inspiration to us all”, which is exactly why we selected her. A truly amazing woman.
Helene is the epitome of Style. She knows what suits her and sticks with it, although she keeps an open mind about new styles and trends. She believes in simplicity and the two colour philosophy. Helene knows more about style and elegance that most women half her age and this is reflected in her choice of outfit for our fashion shoot. It was truly a joy to work with such a young at heart fashionista.
Helene wears: Indigo knit coat accessorised with her own silver necklace. Black pants from Wombat.
When asked what she had enjoyed so far Helen said
“It is the first such competition I have been entered into and has been very exciting and loads of fun. I particularly enjoyed the Fashion Show and Tea with the other competitors and of course, on becoming a finalist, the make-over and shoot.” We enjoyed meeting Helen too as her impeccable style and presentation made us all look forward to our own future!
