Delicious dollops of melodrama

St Ives Village Life magazine readers will soon be able to see how an unscrupulous villain almost got away with his plans to trick a sweet woman in to selling her beloved business, using deceit, kidnapping and attempted murder.

Yes, get ready to laugh, cheer, boo and hiss your way through another sensational night of entertainment when the Intrepid Travelling Troupe’s hilarious fund raising show is performed in April and May this year at Brigidine College, St Ives. The troupe’s performance of Someone Stole My Baby, Ruth or Foil that Villain is a highly entertaining melodrama, punctuated with songs from the 50’s to today. All proceeds from the performaces go to the Oncology Treatment Centre at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Josephite Community Aid.

So, come along to taste delicious dollops of drama and daring, sing along to the fabulous music and laugh and smile in cabaret style at the melodramatic antics of both the cast and crew. The show will be performed at the Brigidine College, 325 Mona Vale Road, St Ives at 8pm on 25 and 26 April and on 2 and 3 May, with a matinee on Saturday 3 May at 2pm.

Tickets cost $40 each, and $25 each for the matinee. Tea and coffee will be provided at the interval, but organisers invite the audience to bring their own supper, refreshments and raffle money.

Details phone: Wendy Boyd-Boland on 9412 2059.

Fun is in the Fair

Australian funny man, Jonathan Coleman, will be on hand to open Corpus Christi’s 36th Annual Art and Fun Fair in St Ives on Sunday, May 4, 2008.

A great day for all the family, this is the perfect opportunity for you to finish your Mother’s Day shopping while the children enjoy the rides and attractions of Side Show Alley.

In addition to the Fine Art Exhibition that is always a great showcase
of local talent, and at this year’s fair will also feature over 20 Craft
Stalls, a silent auction, fresh homemade International Fare, gourmet
goodies including jams, chutneys and cakes, a huge selection of
second hand books, CD’s & DVD’s and a licensed cafe area.

So come along and have a great day out while supporting one
of our great local schools.

The Fair will run from 10am until 4pm, and off street car parking
will be available in the old Monastery grounds off Killeaton Street.
